Service Learning Ideas...
-Cards to soldiers
-Collecting food or clothing for a shelter together
-Raking leaves for the elderly together
-Making Christmas cards or decorations for a nursing home
-Collecting can tabs to donate for cancer treatments
A big part of service learning is having the kids come up with the ideas so they take ownership in the project, but you could always "guide" the discussion. =)

Another idea for Service Learning:
I read about a school that had students design and plant a flower garden that attracted certain birds and insects. Students maintain the garden and it ties in with Science!
